Margaret Atwoodの短編 "The Freeze-Dried Groom"から。ただ、全部は読んでなくて、Harrison, C. & Nutall, L. (2019) “Cognitive grammar and reconstrual: Re-experiencing Margaret Atwood’s ’The Freeze-Dried Groom’”. In: Neurohr, B. and Stewart-Shaw, L. (eds.) Experiencing Fictional Worlds. John Benjamins. 135-154. という論文中で引用されているのを見つけた（p. 141）。
元々は小説の分析のケーススタディを当たるつもりでこの論文を読んでいたのだが、分析の出来映えよりも、引用文につい吹き出した。オークションに出ていた婚礼道具のストックを検分していて、"mummified bride groom"が出てきたら"complete with"って、どんな前提で作業していたんだよと。現代英語の語法として、complete withは「足りないピース」を指すために使うわけではなく「本来想定されない追加物」を表す用例があるくらいは知っているが、これは何とも極端な例だ。
Harrison & Nuttsの論文で引用されているAtwood作品の抜粋はごく一部だが、ダークな風味＆いい具合にヒネた文体（英国産の短編だしね）が気になる。Kindleのwishlistに追加しておくか。
